This Privacy Policy explains how Walky ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Walky app ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Name — Your name or display name you enter when setting up the app
- Pet Information — Your pet's name, breed, weight, and profile photo
- Profile Photo — Your avatar image (optional)
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Precise Location — GPS coordinates collected during walks to track your route, distance, and duration
- Walk Data — Walk routes, distance, duration, pace, and timestamps
- Usage Data — How you interact with the App (screens visited, features used, buttons tapped)
- Crash Reports — Technical error logs to help us fix bugs
1.3 Account Information (Signed-In Users Only)
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple:
- Email Address — Collected from your Google or Apple account
- User ID — A unique identifier linked to your account
Guest Mode: If you use the app without signing in, your data is stored only on your device and is never sent to our servers (except for anonymous analytics).

We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not use your data for targeted advertising by third-party ad networks.
4. Location Data
The App collects your precise GPS location during walks.
- Location is collected while the app is in use and in the background (to track your walk continuously)
- Location data is used only to record your walk route
- Your walk routes are stored locally on your device
- For signed-in users, walks are synced to our secure servers (Supabase) so you can access them across devices
- We do not share your location with advertisers or data brokers
To stop location access, go to your iPhone Settings → Walky → Location → Never.
5. Data Retention

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time (see Section 7).
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
- All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption
- Supabase storage is secured with Row-Level Security (RLS) — you can only access your own data
- We regularly review our security practices
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Delete — Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Correct — Update or correct your personal information within the app
- Opt Out — Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email

8. Children's Privacy
Walky is rated 4+ on the App Store and is safe for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.
If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at support@walkypetapp.com.
9. Marketing Communications
If you have signed in and provided your email:
- We may send you updates, tips, and promotional emails about Walky and related products
- You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email
- We will never sell your email address to third parties
10. GDPR (European Users)
If you are located in the European Union, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to data portability
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to object to processing
Our legal basis for processing your data:
- Contractual necessity — to provide the App's core functionality
- Legitimate interests — for analytics and app improvement
- Consent — for marketing communications

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify you via the app or email if the changes are material
